Holiday Survival Guide | Feed Your Glow

The holidays are upon us—legit my favorite time of the year in the city. It’s so festive and so fun!

Since it’s right around the corner, this week’s skin tips are all about how to avoid that post-holiday swell. You know, that puffy feeling we ALL get.

Incorporate some of these tips to make the season more enjoyable! Happy holidays! x

01 | START THE DAY WITH APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (ACV)

I actually do this everyday, not just during the holidays. It alkalizes your body, balances your pH, helps with digestion, regulates your blood sugar and replenishes minerals, like potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, and iron.

Dilute it in filtered water and drink it in the morning or sip on it throughout the day.

02 | EAT YOUR GREENS BEFORE LOADING UP ON HOLIDAY TREATS

Greens are full fiber and essential nutrients that will keep you satiated. It’ll also stabilize your blood glucose level.

03 | HYDRATE…OFTEN

With all the festivities, parties, food indulgences, drinks and caffeine, it’s easy to get dehydrated during the holidays.

Drinking enough filtered water throughout the day will help regulate your kidneys and liver for optimal detoxification.

Add lemon to your water for an even better boost.

04 | SNACK HEALTHY

Nuts, seeds and healthy fats throughout the day will help offset some of your sweet indulgences later in the evening.

05 | SIP ON DETOX TEA

It’ll warm you up, act as a digestive aid and help reduce the bloat. Look for ingredients like ginger (my favorite), dandelion root, licorice and fennel.

06 | MOVE YOUR BODY

Stretching in the morning, brisk walks, quick sweat session. They’re all great.

07 | EXFOLIATE

To help your body release toxins, use a dry brush or a body scrub before you jump in the shower. And alternate between hot and cold water to help decrease inflammation, remove waste from your tissues and stimulate circulation. It feels so good!

08 | EAT MORE EARLIER IN THE DAY

A high protein and healthy fat meal early in the day will stabilize your blood sugar, allowing you to enjoy more of your favorite holiday foods without the urge to overindulge.

These tips will help you avoid that bloated feeling and will keep your skin nice and hydrated. Your body (and skin) will thank you! 🙂 If you try any of these tips, let me know in the comments below!
