HOLIDAY SURVIVAL GUIDE


The holidays are upon us - my favorite time of the year!

It's right around the corner, so if you're anything like me, you've been dreaming of all the food, fun times and maybe even the vino you'll soon be enjoying. I'm so looking forward to it...

So, in honor of that, this week's skin tips are all about how to avoid that post-holiday swell... that puffy feeling we ALL get.

Start your day off with Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) 

I actually do this everyday, not just during the holidays. It alkalizes your body, balances your pH, helps with digestion, regulates your blood sugar and replenishes minerals, like potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium and iron. And if you end up having one too many holiday cocktails, this will save you

Eat your greens before you load up on carbs and sugar

The nutrients in greens, especially the fiber, will help you feel full faster. It'll also stabilize your blood glucose level.

DRINK WATER

All day. It's easy to get dehydrated during the holidays. All the festivities, parties, food indulgences, drinks, caffeine... Hydrating helps regulate your kidneys and liver for optimal detoxification. Adding lemon to your water will give it a little boost.

Snack healthy

On nuts, seeds and healthy fats during the day... instead of sugary treats. This will help offset some of your indulgences in sweet desserts later in the evening.

Sip a detox tea

It'll warm you up, act as a digestive aid and reduce the bloat. Look for ingredients like ginger (my favorite), dandelion root, licorice and fennel.

MOVE YOUR BODY

Do some stretches in the morning ~ then make time for a walk, workout or yoga class later in the day.

Exfoliate

Get those toxins out. Use a dry brush or a body scrub. You can also jump in the shower and alternate between hot and cold water. The alternating between temperatures decreases inflammation, removes waste from your tissues and stimulates circulation.

Eat the majority of your calories in the beginning and middle of the day 

A high protein + healthy fat meal early in the day will stabilize your blood sugar, allowing you to enjoy more of your favorite holiday foods without the urge to overindulge.

 


These tips will help you avoid that bloated, weighed-down feeling and will keep your skin nice and hydrated. Your body (and skin) will thank you! :)
