Camu Camu is what I like to call "the miracle berry." I was first introduced to this amazing purplish-red superfruit during my visit to Peru. It's native to the tropical rainforests of South America.

It's the most concentrated, natural food sources of vitamin C in the world - it provides up to 60 times more than an orange (on an ounce-for-ounce basis).

One teaspoon has 1180 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C.

Vitamin C stimulates collagen production, slows the rate of free radicals and keeps wrinkles, dryness and fine lines at bay.

As one of the most nutrient-dense foods available, here are some of the health benefits of this incredible berry:

  • Brightens the skin, giving you a youthful glow
  • Repairs connective tissue and promotes collagen production reducing wrinkles and improving the tone of your skin
  • Rebuilds tissue, purifies blood and strengthens your immune system
  • Promotes fat burning in the body

When you're searching online, look for high quality organic camu camu powder that has no fillers, preservatives or artificial ingredients.

So, what does it taste like? It's a bit tart and slightly sweet.  If you've never tried it before, start with 1/4 teaspoon (or less) and build up to 1 teaspoon per day. It's extremely potent, so give your body time to adjust. A little bit goes a long way.

Add them to your favorite smoothies (like I do!), juices, desserts or to your drinking water.
